The 6th Annual Botball Robotics Competition will take place May 2, 2009 at the Hawaii Convention Center. 42 teams representing 39 middle and high schools will compete to score as many points as possible in a series of two-minute matches. In this year's challenge, autonomous robots will collect energy devices.
The public is invited to attend this exciting STEM event. The Hawaii Botball program is currently the largest of its kind in the United States.

The public is invited to attend the 2nd Annual FIRST Robotics Competition on March 27-28, 2009 at the Stan Sheriff Center, UH Manoa Campus. 33 teams from Hawaii, the Philippines, Mexico and the U.S. mainland will compete in a game called Lunacy. Admission is free, however there is a $3 fee for on-campus parking.

Engineering displays can be viewed throughout the week. On Saturday, February 21, Engineering Week will culminate with the following special activities: Future Flight Hawaii's Dale Olive (Waiakea High School) and Roger Kwok (Leeward Community College) will present fun and exciting 25-minute science demonstrations, including a featured showcase of the robotics program's newest activity - toothbrush robots! 12 teams from 7 middle and high schools will participate in a VEX Robotics Tournament.

30 teams from Division B (grades 6-9) and Division C (grades 9-12) will compete. Registration for student participation is now closed. Winners will advance to the National Science Olympiad at Augusta, Georgia in May 2009.
The public is invited to attend the exhibits, selected tournament events, and the awards ceremony. Some events, such as Elevated Bridge, Egg-O-Naut, and Trajectory, are open to the public. Laboratory events are closed to the public for safety reasons. The competion will run from 8:30 a.m. to about 2:15 p.m. with the awards ceremony to follow shortly afterward.
