Welcome to the 2nd annual Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Championship. This amazing event will bring together teams from around the world and will also qualify top teams to compete in two additional international tournaments.

9 teams from the Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Championship will qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship in April in Dallas, Texas. 17 teams will qualify for the CREATE Foundation Championship of the Americas VEX tournament in March, 2010 in Omaha, Nebraska.

6th Annual Botball Robotics Competition

The 6th Annual Botball Robotics Competition will take place May 2, 2009 at the Hawaii Convention Center. 42 teams representing 39 middle and high schools will compete to score as many points as possible in a series of two-minute matches. In this year's challenge, autonomous robots will collect energy devices.

The public is invited to attend this exciting STEM event. The Hawaii Botball program is currently the largest of its kind in the United States.

2nd Annual FIRST Robotics Competition

The public is invited to attend the 2nd Annual FIRST Robotics Competition on March 27-28, 2009 at the Stan Sheriff Center, UH Manoa Campus. 33 teams from Hawaii, the Philippines, Mexico and the U.S. mainland will compete in a game called Lunacy. Admission is free, however there is a $3 fee for on-campus parking.

52nd Hawaii State Science & Engineering Fair

The Hawaii State Science & Engineerg Fair (HSSEF) is an enrichment program which stimulates interest in science & encourages entry into a science related career. Excellence of student achievement is recognized & rewarded. Students have the opportunity to interact with professional scientists & engineers in the program. Exhibits at school, district & state levels serve to educate the public about science & engineering. HSSEF is the oldest & largest science education program in Hawaii. Over 6,000 students participate in the science fair program each year, with about 400 reaching the HSSEF.

Pacific Symposium for Science and Sustainability

The Pacific Symposium for Science & Sustainability (PS3) provides a unique educational experience by bringing students from Hawaii & other Pacific Islands together to explore their common interest in the sciences. Students submit their original research papers for review. The students selected to compete present their papers during the concurrent sessions at the symposium. The PS3 is patterned after professional conferences & includes field trips & social events along with the presentation of papers.

The Robotics Organizing Committee (ROC) serves as the foundation of support for the six pillars of robotics programming in the state of Hawai'i: FIRST Robotics, Botball, FIRST LEGO League, VEX, Underwater ROV and Micro Robotics. Providing support in areas of fundraising, team development and professional development, ROC seeks to provide a long-term sustainable future for these successful programs. Community leaders are leading this charge to ensure the continued growth of robotics in our state.

More than 80 middle school and high school student teams from around the world will compete in the Inaugural VEX Robotics Pan-Pacific Championships. More than half of the participating teams are Hawaii-based, hailing from 5 islands. Students will compete in a series of elimination rounds culminating in the selection of one or more teams that will advance to the VEX Robotics World Championship, April 30-May 2, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. The public is invited to this admission free event.

STEM Jam - Half Day Training Workshop

STEM Jam is a challenge that encourages middle and high school and engineering students to test their abilities and innovating skills in the world of math and science. The co-organizer, Collin Kobayashi is an entrepreneur with a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software training program that enables users to create 3-dimensional designs in a fun and innovative way. Mr. Kobayashi will present a half day workshop in which participants will learn how to use the CAD software. Each student will then design a product using CAD and a common theme.
