The Pacific Symposium for Science & Sustainability (PS3) provides a unique educational experience by bringing students from Hawaii & other Pacific Islands together to explore their common interest in the sciences. Students submit their original research papers for review. The students selected to compete present their papers during the concurrent sessions at the symposium. The PS3 is patterned after professional conferences & includes field trips & social events along with the presentation of papers.

More than 80 middle school and high school student teams from around the world will compete in the Inaugural VEX Robotics Pan-Pacific Championships. More than half of the participating teams are Hawaii-based, hailing from 5 islands. Students will compete in a series of elimination rounds culminating in the selection of one or more teams that will advance to the VEX Robotics World Championship, April 30-May 2, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. The public is invited to this admission free event.

STEM Jam is a challenge that encourages middle and high school and engineering students to test their abilities and innovating skills in the world of math and science. The co-organizer, Collin Kobayashi is an entrepreneur with a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software training program that enables users to create 3-dimensional designs in a fun and innovative way. Mr. Kobayashi will present a half day workshop in which participants will learn how to use the CAD software. Each student will then design a product using CAD and a common theme.
