The CropLife Database of the Safety and Benefits of Biotechnology is a searchable index of peer-reviewed and approved scientific articles discussing the safety and benefits of agricultural biotechnology. Studies recording, demonstrating and quantifying the benefits of biotechnology exist, they can be difficult to find - the database allows you to quickly and easily locate and access credible scientific information about the demonstrated benefits of agricultural biotechnology products and the safety implications associated with their use. 30 teams from Division B (grades 6-9) and Division C (grades 9-12) will compete. Registration for student participation is now closed. Winners will advance to the National Science Olympiad at Augusta, Georgia in May 2009.
The public is invited to attend the exhibits, selected tournament events, and the awards ceremony. Some events, such as Elevated Bridge, Egg-O-Naut, and Trajectory, are open to the public. Laboratory events are closed to the public for safety reasons. The competion will run from 8:30 a.m. to about 2:15 p.m. with the awards ceremony to follow shortly afterward.
