Abstract: Noted blue water sailing navigator and tactician Bill Leary will present the epic account of his recent sailing voyage through the Hawaiian Islands. He will narrate his PowerPoint presentation providing valuable tips to those who might seek to follow in his wake. For the rest of us armchair travelers Bill will introduce us to the beauty of Hawaii as seen by those who go to sea.

Learn about the use of solar and other design elements for high performance, sustainable buildings. • Stephen Meder, Dr Arch, holds a joint University of Hawai‘i appointment as a School of Architecture faculty member and also as Director of the Sea Grant College Program's Center for Smart Building and Community Design. Meder’s research on sustainable development, particularly solar design and high performance buildings has been widely recognized. He is currently involved in developing new methods to map solar radiation and to assess solar energy potential on existing buildings through GIS and aerial image recognition.

Pacific Building Trade Expo

The Pacific Building Trade Expo is the largest trade exposition serving Hawaii's building design professionals, owners and contractors. The Expo features the latest building products and services from hundreds of suppliers. It also offers a full schedule of continuing education sessions addressing current issues, innovations and techniques within the building design industry. Topics include computer technology, sustainable design, building systems, and professional practice issues, and there are special exhibits by association co-sponsors.
