SWE Hawaii Collegiate Section

The Society of Women Engineers Mission Statement “To expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life and to demonstrate the value of diversity in Engineering.” The University of Hawai‘i College of Engineering Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the local collegiate chapter of a not-for-profit national organization dedicated to empowering women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering. Today, SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is the largest and fastest growing student chapter at the UHM College of Engineering. The SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is open to all students interested in engineering who are enrolled in the University of Hawai‘i system, regardless of gender, ethnicity or age. There are currently over seventy registered SWE Hawai‘i members, including undergraduates and graduate students. Nationally, SWE is 14,000 members strong with over 70 local sections and 277 student sections throughout the world.

"She is an Astronomer" Symposium

Windward Community College's Center for Aerospace Education is hosting the *"She is an Astronomer" symposium* for students on *Thursday, December 3, from 10:00-11:30 a.m.*The symposium will take place at the Paliku Theatre on the campus of Windward Community College in Kaneohe.

A panel of female astronomers from UH's Institute for Astronomy will discuss their research, followed by a question and answer session exploring careers in astronomy.

Sacred Hearts Academy

Founded in 1909, Sacred Hearts Academy is an independent Catholic elementary and high school for girls from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to grade 12. The Academy offers a college preparatory education to students with varied academic abilities, needs, religious traditions and socio- economic backgrounds.

Women In Technology Project

The Women In Technology (WIT) Project provides statewide resources and opportunities to strengthen the education to workforce pipeline in Hawaii by encouraging girls, women, and underrepresented minorities to enter into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. WIT is administered by the Maui Economic Development Board, Inc., and is funded in part by the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor and Agriculture.
