"Smart Grid" is the new buzz word in the utility industry. Some may have seen the GE and IBM television commercials about a Smart Grid for a smarter future. There are many goals that could be achieved with a full implementation of a Smart Grid. In fact, each utility could have their own version of a Smart Grid depending on the issues that need to be resolved.

Dr. Dora Nakafuji of Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) will present a seminar on renewable energy in California. Before joining HECO, Dr. Nakafuji worked as technical lead on a renewable energy program at the California Energy Commission. She has more than 12 years experience working on renewable energy integration in California and Hawaii.
