This page,  offered by the award winning Dragonfly TV team, is a treasure trove for parents and teachers . Information includes lesson plans, schedules, useful online links, program schedules, episodes for viewing, museum guides, offline activities, and much more. Materials are geared mostly for children ages 9-12.

Earth & Sky Teachers Center

Earth & Sky, the award-winning NPR program in collaboration with the Learning Tree Project, has created a place for teachers to gather information and  curriculum support relating to a wide variety of science topics. Materials include archived broadcasts in podcast and print format, science news headlines, curriculum modules, an index of topics, and opportunities for children to interact with scientists. 

Elementary and middle school girls and their families are invited to this event designed to engage the interest of students in Mathematics and Science. Participants will hear expository talks and can explore ideas more deeply via activities at the mentor-run discovery stations. This Diversity and Equity Initiative is presented by the Department of Mathematics at the University of Hawaii.

This one day workshop presented by the Institute for Scientists & Engineer Educators (ISEE) and the Center for Adaptive Optics (CfAO)  is designed to introduce the multi-year ISEE/CfAO Professional Development Program (PDP) for early career science and engineering professionals.

 

PDP participants receive training through workshops, work on a design team before and after workshops, continue developing their skills through mini-workshops and expert consultation, and then put their new teaching skills into practice.

More than 80 middle school and high school student teams from around the world will compete in the Inaugural VEX Robotics Pan-Pacific Championships. More than half of the participating teams are Hawaii-based, hailing from 5 islands. Students will compete in a series of elimination rounds culminating in the selection of one or more teams that will advance to the VEX Robotics World Championship, April 30-May 2, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. The public is invited to this admission free event.

Two days of standards-based professional development that includes classroom applications of technology and ideas to help make your schools and classrooms more relevant to students' futures.
