SWE Hawaii Collegiate Section

The Society of Women Engineers Mission Statement “To expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life and to demonstrate the value of diversity in Engineering.” The University of Hawai‘i College of Engineering Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the local collegiate chapter of a not-for-profit national organization dedicated to empowering women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering. Today, SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is the largest and fastest growing student chapter at the UHM College of Engineering. The SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is open to all students interested in engineering who are enrolled in the University of Hawai‘i system, regardless of gender, ethnicity or age. There are currently over seventy registered SWE Hawai‘i members, including undergraduates and graduate students. Nationally, SWE is 14,000 members strong with over 70 local sections and 277 student sections throughout the world.

A Formal Introduction to Engineering at UH Manoa You’ve probably attended one of our open house events in the past, and/or the University of Hawai‘i’s New Student Orientation event. Now, we want to give you a taste of what the exciting field of engineering has to offer and how you can best be prepared for it at the College of Engineering. Current students, faculty members and industry professionals will share their knowledge about engineering through a variety of discussions, presentations and lectures.

The Fall Career Day provides an opportunity for companies to advertise their business and/or job and internship opportunities to our current engineering students. Held at Holmes Hall on the UH Manoa campus, companies set up tables and display company information through posterboards, brochures, videos, etc. It is a great opportunity for industry professionals to speak with our engineering students. Mainland and local companies welcomed.
