Here at Searider Productions, Waianae High School we're continuously trying to innovate and integrate. At over 350 students and 3 majors covering everything from journalism to film production to animation to graphic design, we as teachers have a very unique problem - integrating all the different types of media and creating an efficient work environment.
The Coast Guard Cutter HEALY, the United State's newest and most technologically advanced polar icebreaker, will be docked in Honolulu this summer and open for public tours. HEALY is a research vehicle carrying out potential missions in the polar regions including environmental protection, search and rescue and law enforcement. Morning tours for school groups available (9-11am) on June 4th and 5th (Sat/Sun) and June 9th and 11th (Thurs/Sat). Description: This is an interactive teacher’s workshop with new information about recent advances in our understanding of the brain’s learning abilities and plasticity. We plan a hands on session with real- time demonstrations of what factors play a role in learning ability, including technology, sleep and social engagement. .

High school students, 11th & 12th graders, will have an opportunity to participate in an International Conference in addition to a special session just for them! Students will explore 2 to 3 hands-on learning activities. Activities will be presented by individuals from various STEM fields at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, Honolulu Community College, Windward Community College, and Hawai`i based STEM employers! Presenters will share their expertise and answer questions about what it is like to work in a STEM field.

Through a partnership between Waianae High School, Waianae Intermediate School, Maui High School, Waiakea High School, and Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, we are actively promoting creative digital media in our secondary schools throughout the islands. Using the latest in Apple computers and digital and video cameras, our students are using these tools to create thought provoking, innovative, and creative media projects on a wide range of topics.
