VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP CLEAN KALIHI STREAM...And help create a Native Hawaiian Garden for community members to cultivate and harvest edible and medicinal plants!

In addition to removing trash from the stream, we'll be weeding invasive plants, planting native plants, creating a pathway and removing graffiti.

Please wear covered shoes, work clothes, and hat. We'll provide the refreshments!

A series of 8 2-hour classes for people interested in becoming garden guides at Lyon Arboretum. Topics covered include basic botany, horticulture, plant conservation, natural history, Hawaiian ethnobotany and the Arboretum's gardens and collections. After completing the course, participants will be expected to help guide Lyon Arboretum garden tours. Materials and supplies will be provided. Wednesdays 1/7/09 - 2/25/09, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. $100 fee ($75 is refundable after you have guided 6 Lyon Arboretum tours)
