Description: This is an interactive teacher’s workshop with new information about recent advances in our understanding of the brain’s learning abilities and plasticity. We plan a hands on session with real- time demonstrations of what factors play a role in learning ability, including technology, sleep and social engagement. .

Engineering Day

Engineering Day is a half-day event open to high school students and parents interested in engineering. Teachers and counselors are also welcomed to attend to learn more about the engineering program. The day consists of a brief overview of the UHM engineering program, followed by a tour of our high-tech research laboratories, including a question and answer session. There are also many opportunities to talk with faculty and current engineering students, including a meet and greet session at the end of the event.

Hawaii State Science Olympiad - Fall Coaches Clinic and Elementary Science Olympiad Workshop

Fall Coaches Clinic for teachers, parents and mentors. Elementary Science Olympiad workshop will be held in the morning and repeated in the afternoon. Registration includes breakfast before the morning session or lunch before the afternoon session, as well as printed workshop material, coaches handbook, and coaches/students manual.

Fee: $50. Registration deadline is October 25, 2008.
