The Society of Women Engineers Mission Statement
“To expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life and to demonstrate the value of diversity in Engineering.”
The University of Hawai‘i College of Engineering Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the local collegiate chapter of a not-for-profit national organization dedicated to empowering women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering.
Today, SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is the largest and fastest growing student chapter at the UHM College of Engineering. The SWE Hawai‘i Collegiate Section is open to all students interested in engineering who are enrolled in the University of Hawai‘i system, regardless of gender, ethnicity or age. There are currently over seventy registered SWE Hawai‘i members, including undergraduates and graduate students.
Nationally, SWE is 14,000 members strong with over 70 local sections and 277 student sections throughout the world.
