
Research Experience for Teachers (RET) - Middle School is a collaborative effort between the University of Hawaii and teachers in public schools across Hawaii. RET is a teacher driven initiative, and in response to participant request, will present several workshops to provide impetus for teachers to share and collaborate on STEM projects. The inaugural workshop of this series, PDA Workshop for RET Middle Schools, was held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Manoa Innovation Center in Honolulu. The second workshop of this series, Robotics Workshop for RET Middle Schools, was held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Manoa Innovation Center in Honolulu. The third workshop of this series, Sustainability Workshop for RET Middle Schools, was held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Honolulu Community Colllege.
Interested SIP members are invited to join in the fourth workshop of the series on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Windward Community College in Honolulu, featuring presentations and discussions about 3D modeling projects for middle schools.
In the first session Engineers from Urban Works and TBD UH faculty will discuss industry and real world applications of 3D modeling. The next sessions will be devoted to presentations on current programs at several Hawaii middle schools, including: Kawananakoa, Jarrett, Dole, Washington and Laie Elementary.
