Paul S. Zorner, Ph.D., is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hawaii BioEnergy in Honolulu, a company focused on providing energy security, renewable materials, creating a carbon neutral environment and creating local jobs within this new green economy. Paul is also a Venture Partner with Finistere Partners in San Diego, and serves as the Chairman of Kuehnle AgroSystems (Hawaii), whose focus is the development of elite lines of algae to support the production of auto, marine and aviation fuels. He serves on multiple government and NGO advisory boards in the US and abroad aimed at developing regional policy to support green energy development, and serves as Adjunct Professor of Horticulture and a member of the graduate faculty at North Carolina State University with an emphasis on renewable fuels development.
Paul received his undergraduate degree from Lewis and Clark College (1976 - Ecology and Secondary Education) and his Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Colorado State University (1980) where he worked on development of cropping systems for dry-land agriculture. He has held scientific, development, operations and senior administrative positions with start-up and Fortune 500 companies.
