About SIP Hawaii

Welcome to the STEM Intercommunity Portal (SIP-Hawaii), a user driven meeting place for advancing interest, knowledge and opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

The SIP is a result of STEM innovators seeking to build a learning interchange that provides public access to resources and expertise, and makes it possible to generate and preserve knowledge in new ways. Stakeholders join in an organic process to create an accessible hub linking people, ideas, information, tools and options to advance STEM education, teacher skills, research, and career gateways.

Guided by the vision and needs of its users, the SIP hopes to gradually bring about a network for interaction and collaboration among participants worldwide and attract the interest and commitment of young people to join the growing STEM workforce.

The SIP is currently being developed by Referentia Systems, Inc. and an initial stakeholder group which includes STEM professionals, educators, community leaders, and students. This project, sponsored by the College of Engineering and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, is part of the FIRST Pre-Academy initiative supported by Act 111 of the Hawaii State Legislature.
